Remembrance Week

Hi all and Happy New Year! We finally feel like we can start 2011. As many of you have heard, last week was a rough one for us. We had Kris' cousin Rick's funeral on Wednesday and then my grandfather's funeral this past Saturday. Of course it was an emotional week and our thoughts and prayers are still with both sides of our family as we continue to mourn the loss of our relatives. It was a tough way to start the new year, so we are considering it closure for 2010 and our year officially begins this week.

As you can imagine, we weren't quite photo-friendly last week, but I do have some pictures to post from our New Year's weekend. On January 2nd we were pleasantly surprised by a winter storm that brought snow to our little valley! This is a very rare thing to have it snow in LA (ok, 30 miles north) and as you can imagine, we were quite excited!

Here's my attempt at capturing the snow falling:
You can see a light dusting on the bushes of our neighbor's house and the ground just in front of our door:
Snow gathering on our rose bushes and BBQ:
Ok, so for our friends and relatives who live in the midwest/east coast I know you are laughing at this but we were very proud of our 3 inches of snow! Here you can see it sticking to the rooftops:
Our New Year's weekend was spent relaxing and papa was happy to enjoy watching many football games. We won't talk about the unfortunate outcome of a particular game, but he was very happy to put his new Christmas present (a Nebraska snuggie) to good use:
I thought I'd also include an update on Baby M2 since we haven't done that recently...over the holiday we were given another clean bill of health and Mr. McFarren seems to be right on track! He is super active and I joke that he's already practicing to run his first marathon with his papa.
New Year's Day was pajama day in our house. Sophie definitely didn't mind cozying up to her papa for the day:
We hope you've all had a great start to your new year!

  1. Mike is totally jealous of the snow! He keeps hoping for it here. Glad to hear that Baby M is doing well too!
