This morning we all climbed out of bed at 5am and trekked in the pouring rain down to Dodger Stadium to cheer Kris on for his 20th marathon!
The weather was the worst it's ever been -- normally it's sunny and gorgeous, but honestly it was a downpour the entire time he was running. My brother joined us for the morning and kept Sophie and I company, though if we weren't finding shelter at Starbucks, we were camped along the course in our car, following text message updates on Papa via my phone. Sophie was a trooper about being in the car for so long. I tried to convince her to take a nap, but here's a picture of her "pretending" to sleep -- notice the smile as she's starting to laugh?
Since there was no way to see him finish from the car, the three of us sucked it up and ventured out into the downpour to congratulate him on finishing quite a race! We bundled Sophie up, though she wasn't happy to be out in the pouring rain, but she made it through. I was trying hard not to get my camera water-damaged so I didn't grab many pictures -- just a couple of our star runner about to cross the finish line and feeling good! (Gotta love his poncho):
We are very proud of papa! He finished in 3 hours and 46 minutes even with all the rain. Needless to say, we're all now very happy to be home and dry and relaxing for the rest of the afternoon!
Alright Kris! Way to go! Great time and in the pouring rain too...you rock and should be super proud....and way to hang in there Kristi and Sophie!
