This Labor Day weekend we took a road trip to Vegas to visit my best friend Erin, her husband Mansour and their beautiful 7 month old baby Jasmine. It may not have been a traditional trip to Vegas (casinos. bars and clubs) but we sure did have a great time and are so happy they now live so close to us!
They have a large park right down the street from their house with a great playground and a ton of ducks, geese and (unfortunately) pigeons to feed. We picked up a bag of wonder bread and headed over for some entertainment -- the kids had a great time!
Here's a shot of all 3 of them -- Jack, Jasmine and Sophie:
Sophie was amazed by all the birds she got to feed!
We were able to escape the birds a bit once we hit the playground. We found comfort in the shade of mister dinosaur:

Trying to get back to the car was nuts! The guys found it hysterical that Erin, Sophie, Jasmine and I were all surrounded by birds.
Jasmine was gracious enough to share her toys with us. Jack loved borrowing her exersaucer while she played in her jumperoo. It was a very cute sight to see them playing side by side.
I think they became instant friends. A future love match? Hmmm...we'll just have to wait and see :)There are a few other updates I can include in this blog. Sophie continues to do well with her potty training and exploring her independence. In fact, she just had one small accident on our trip over the weekend. It was during nap time and I think she was just SO exhausted she didn't even realize what happened. Before that she'd made it over a week without any accidents and even used the public potties on our stops to and from Vegas. I think it's safe to say she is potty trained, but we accept that there will be a few accidents here and there.
Jack is growing leaps and bounds! He is such a silly guy and absolutely loves to play with Sophie and watches every little thing she does. He's also a good sport and takes it well when she does silly things to him with his toys.
We started him on one small teaspoon of rice cereal after each feeding to help with his reflux. The good news is we've seen a significant improvement with his spit-up and he seems to LOVE the rice cereal. I can tell he wants more and I think I may cheat a bit and start him on normal solids a bit earlier than the doctor would like. He definitely seems ready and interested!
Last weekend Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon visited to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. Sophie sang Grandpa the Happy Birthday song and he melted into a puddle of mush. It was very cute.

Grandma and Grandpa:
Sophie and Jack got to help Grandma make home-made peach ice cream for Grandpa's birthday dessert -- yummy!
My Thing 1 and Thing 2 --- Thing 1 looks so happy, doesn't she? ;)
Sophie and Jack love to play together and are always super happy to play with Papa.
Jack loves to "fly" in the air --- Super Jack!
My handsome boys:

That's our latest update! Hope you've all had a happy Labor Day weekend!
