It's been a while since our last blog post. I didn't even post anything for Father's Day! We've been a bit busy so I'll do my best to give you a brief update on what's been going on with us.
We had a nice and relaxing Father's Day. We cooked papa a delicious french toast breakfast and did our best to pamper him throughout the day. We tried to have some park play time, but it was a very hot 100 degrees so that didn't last very long. We took him out to a yummy sushi dinner where we also celebrated Uncle Brandon's 26th birthday. I forgot to bring my camera with me, so you'll just have to take my word for it that we had a good time. And the kids scarfed down the sushi meal....Sophie definitely eats more of a variety of sushi than I do!
Here's a silly picture from Father's Day. The kids were both supposed to give him a kiss, but Jack decided to try to put something up Kris' nose instead.
The reason for the delay on the blog is that the Monday after Father's Day, the kids and I headed up to my parent's house for 10 days. My mom finally had her second knee replacement surgery so we went up to help take care of her during her difficult recovery. She's the strongest woman I know and has definitely been dealing with a lot of pain and I'm just happy we were able to be there to help in any way we could. I definitely think the kids helped take her mind off of her discomfort a bit. I am very proud to say they were really well behaved for being away from home and out of their routine for so long.
Of course while we were away, Jack decided it was time to hit a few milestones. Not only did he cut his first tooth (and in the most unusual of places...front upper left) but he also took his first steps! In the picture below, I caught him standing and pondering taking a step.
He hasn't taken more than 4 steps at a time, but I'm considering that walking and now we're just practicing ;) Kris came up to visit us last weekend, and Jack demonstrated a few steps for him, so he didn't miss out completely on the new milestones.
Sophie was also very well behaved and was a good helper for me in taking care of Grandma. I think both Grandma and Grandpa were blown away by Sophie's vocabulary and also her love for music. In the picture below, Sophie is laying on pillows listening to "peaceful symphonic music" while Grandma is telling her a story about what is happening in the song (one she made up of course).
We came home yesterday and now we have two days of laundry and house cleaning and then we will welcome Grandma Suzie, Grandpa Glenn and Tia for a week! The kids are very excited to see them and to celebrate the 4th of July! Check back soon for more pictures.
