Beach Day

Kris and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary by having a nice, relaxing family weekend.  The weather was perfect for a family beach day on Saturday.  We captured so many great pictures, it was hard to choose which ones to post.  This will mostly be a photo blog.  I will say, though, that the kids had a great time playing in the sand.  Both were absolutely covered after the 2 hours of playing -- Jack was especially caked head to toe.  I think we brought the entire beach home with us!

Shoveling sand: (I realized there was no hope of having a sand-free zone to sit)

Sophie being her usual silly self:

If you look closely, you'll see the beginning stages of our Sandman:

Question: What do you get when you mix a sunblocked head with a California beach?

Answer: One happy kid.

Posing with her sand dinosaur:

Testing the water:

"Oooh, this is a new walking challenge"

Kris' dream come true -- playing beach football with the kiddos:

He's walking soooo well, but we laugh that it almost always involves his left arm high in the air:

"I'm not quite covered enough with sand, let's poor some on my leg too"

We decided to bury their feet in the sand and see what they did.  Jack got a kick out of it and kept saying "stuck!"

Having a great time!

On Sunday (our actual anniversary) Uncle Brandon came over to hang out for a bit.  He was kind enough to stay after the kids went down so that Kris and I could go out for a nice grown up dinner!

We hope you're all enjoying  your summer.  We have our Eiland Family Reunion trip next week, which includes a very long road trip to New Mexico.  Check back soon for more pictures!
