Family Fun

FAMILY FUN -What a weekend! We had a jam-packed adventure beginning bright and early Friday morning. We piled in the car and hit the road for our journey north to Sacramento. Surprisingly, the drive there only took us 6 hours, which included a one hour stop in Santa Nella. We were happy there wasn't much traffic and Sophie was such a good little traveler! She slept most of the way and played with her toys when she wasn't sleeping.

When we arrived in Sacramento, we headed to my sister's house where we were welcomed by my parents. They were happy to see us, and of course, little Sophie.
Of course the baby was very happy to get out of her car seat and have some play time! My sister arrived home shortly after that and she was happy to finally be able to meet her niece! Sophie was a little unsure who this person was that sounded and looked so much like her mama but wasn't quite her...She loved meeting her Aunt Jill though! She also loved meeting her 3 cousins Aidan, Ethan and Brendan. Saturday morning was packed with football and soccer games for her cousins. We started the morning off cheering on cousin Ethan in his flag football game. Here's Ethan hiking the football:
Here's a picture of Sophie playing with cousin (and birthday boy) Brendan during the football game.
After Ethan's team won, we all headed over across the way to the soccer field to cheer on cousin Aidan! He's quite the soccer star!
Sophie tried to nap during the soccer game, but as you can imagine, it was a bit difficult to do. Poor baby! From there, we all rushed back to the house to change and clean up for my grandfather's 75th birthday party! It was so great to see family!! A special moment from the party was when my grandma's choir serenaded him with several songs and the two of them shared a dance together:
It's amazing that there are now so many "great" grandkids in the family. Here's a picture with most of them, though we're missing my cousin Dustin's son Landon, and my cousin Kendra's twins, Easton and Layla:
Yes, without Layla, Sophie was the only girl in the picture! Hopefully there will be more girls joining the family in the future ;)

After my grandpa's party, we headed down to see my other grandpa and introduce Sophie to Great Grandpa Eiland. Needless to say, he was very happy to see his new great grand-daughter!
After our nice visit with Grandpa Eiland, we head back to my sister's house to unwind and celebrate my nephew, Brendan's 2nd birthday. As you can see, it was quite a jam-packed day! Sophie handled it like a champ even though she missed most of her nap times. Our drive back home on Sunday was even quicker than Friday (5 hours and 40 min including a one hour stop). We were blessed with no traffic and a well behaved baby. We were all exhausted from the quick trip and I've come down with yet another cold. Hopefully it will go away soon and I don't spread my germs to the baby...

Another thing that must be mentioned is that Sophie turned 5 months old on Sunday!! Check back again in the next couple of days for new pictures, including her first bites of rice cereal...
