O Christmas Tree

Today we took Sophie to get her first Christmas tree! I can honestly say getting the tree and decorating the house is one of my favorite days of the year so I was super excited to introduce Sophie to all of the traditions. It was even better because it has finally cooled off around here and it actually feels like Christmas weather now (as opposed to the 80s we'd been feeling for quite some time!).

Here's Sophie and mama in front of the Christmas tree farm:
It didn't take us long to find our tree!

By the time we got home from picking out our tree it was time for Sophie's afternoon nap. It worked out well because while she was sleeping, we were able to decorate the tree. As you can imagine, she was a little confused after her nap to discover the brightly lit and decorated tree in the corner of the family room! She's still not quite sure what to make of it, but has given it a couple of wary looks this evening...

Here's our first family Christmas photo (forgive the scared look on the baby's face -- she was still waking up from her nap and in shock at seeing the tree!)As I've mentioned before, I think the Christmas tree might inspire Sophie to officially start crawling. As of right now, she manages to get on her hands and knees and rock herself back and forth. Sometimes she even gets into the push-up position and holds herself there. She's slowly trying to figure out what to do. Here's a quick video clip I grabbed of her last week. It's pretty funny but she'll constantly do this type of thing over and over!

This week we hope to get most of our Christmas shopping done. Sophie and I will be heading to Pismo Beach at the end of the week to help take care of my mom (aka Grandma) after her knee surgery. Please send her good vibes for a successful surgery! I hope to post once more before taking off for the week so check back again soon.
