5 seconds and counting...

Hello all! We hope you've been able to enjoy a nice and relaxing weekend even though it was cut a smidge short with the time change.

We had a nice week last week. I had a friend over for lunch one day and she brought her two little boys, a 4 year old and 18 month old, who are Sophie's friends. They had so much fun playing together. Most of Sophie's friends right now are all older than her and are boys, but it doesn't phase her at all. She LOVES little kids and I'm working hard to make sure she gets plenty of play time with others. I'm so happy she's such a social kid! Her friends brought over a balloon for her to play with. This was Sophie's first encounter with a balloon and she was so excited over it!
Don't worry, I kept a close eye on her and took it away when she tried to eat it, but she had a blast playing with it!Sophie is very close to reaching a major milestone. A few days ago I called Kris at work in excitement because she stood on her own for 5 seconds! It was the longest on record so far (she's had a few other 3 seconds moments) but she is determined to figure it out. And this morning she pulled herself up to standing all on her own (with the help of the coffee table but without mama's assistance). It's only a matter of time before she puts all the pieces together and starts walking!

Another fun moment this week was when Sophie was reading her animal book. She likes mama to make the noises of the animals. This time when I said "the cow goes Mooo!" she responded with "Mmmmuu!" and kept saying it over and over again. Now if only I could get her to adjust it slightly to sound more like "mama...."
We'll end this blog with a typical playful picture of our little one. We used to be able to play "peek-a-boo" with her rags. Now she thinks it's funny if she just keeps them on her head...
Have a great week everyone! Papa and Aunt Jen are running the LA Marathon together next weekend, so check back soon for some exciting pictures from the big day!
