Columbus Weekend

Happy Columbus Day! Sophie and I are spoiled because with papa's government job, he gets today off which has given us another nice 3 day weekend. We were even more spoiled this time around because Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon planned a last minute trip to come visit us! It was a nice surprise and it made us all happy to see Grandma feeling better enough to make the short car trip down to see us.

We kept things pretty casual and spent our time catching up with one another, though we did manage to head out to the park for a little bit so that Grandma could see Sophie really in action. She LOVES to run around on the grass and play with her ball:

Here she is running around with Grandma and the ball:
"Okay, no more ball guys....time for the playground!"
We keep trying to get Sophie to enjoy the swings but she's still not a big fan -- even sitting on papa's lap isn't all that fun for her:
Thanks again Grandma and Grandpa for the fun weekend visit!
Yesterday, after saying goodbye to our house guests, we headed over to a Pet Fair that was being held at a local park. There were a ton of dogs for Sophie to see and play with. She was very excited to see so many and we couldn't believe how crowded the place was (both with dogs and people!)
She got a kick out of it and was even able to pet a nice cocker spaniel (though I didn't get a picture of it because I was too busy keeping her from smothering the doggie with excitement!).
Many of you have asked if we've considered getting Sophie a pet since she obviously loves them so much....for now we're content with visiting pets of our friends and family members. We'll wait until the kids are old enough to really put the pressure on us -- and hopefully share in the responsibility of owning one!
