Christmas: Take Two & Happy New Year

Happy New Year! We hope 2012 has started off well for all. We are back from our 2nd Christmas celebration, this time in the Bay Area with Grandma Suzie & Grandpa Glenn.  Since we had to take down all of our Christmas decorations (including the tree) before we left, Sophie was so happy to see it was still "Christmas time" at Grandma and Grandpa's house:

Jack was a bit more familiar with present-opening this time around:

Sophie could barely contain her excitement:

We are very thankful for all of our Christmas goodies -- the kids couldn't wait to start playing right away!

Jack & Sophie had a great time playing with grandma and grandpa, as usual:

Jack was happy to show off his crawling skills for the family.  He even mastered climbing up one step while we were there.  Here he is playing with Tio:

Sophie was thrilled to see her aunts & uncles.  She always loves playing with Tia:

And grandma had the week off too, so she was able to play and read books to the kiddos:

With all of the extra hands helping to entertain the little ones, I was happy to kick my feet up for a bit.

Here's Tia (aka "The Godmother") showing off her birthday gift :)

We also ventured out with everyone to see Christmas in the Park again this year.  It's true we were there late in the season and most of the trees were dry and brown, but the kids didn't seemed phased by it and still had a great time! Here's Sophie posing next to a ballerina tree:

On Saturday we had to say our goodbyes and start our trek home.  We decided to break up the drive this year and stopped about halfway at my parent's house to spend New Year's Eve with them.  I think the kids were happy to have a shorter road trip and I know they were happy to see Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon again.  Papa was especially happy to conveniently make it there in time to watch UCLA play in their bowl game.

One of Jack's favorite things to do is play ball, rolling it back and forth:

We had a nice, low-key New Year's with my parents & brother -- and we even managed to stay up until midnight, which honestly hasn't happened the past couple of years! Yes, today we are exhausted, but it was worth it.

This morning we were treated to a nice breakfast before hitting the road home again.  Of course we had to dress the kids in some of their recent outfits they received for Christmas, in honor of the 49ers game today:

We think they may have brought Papa's team some luck since they had another win today!

Tomorrow we will enjoy our very last day of Papa's vacation before he heads back to work and we get back into our normal routine.  Hopefully we will all kick the colds we've been fighting and start 2012 off on a healthy note.  Happy New Year and check back soon!
