Sophie-isms

Before I get to the heart of this blog, I feel like I should say "Go Niners!" It was an exciting game last night (yes, even I am saying that!).  I grew up never favoring a team (our house was divided between my parents -- mom's a Cowboy fan and dad's a 49er fan), but after last night, I may have officially become a 49er fan from here on out.  We think the kids may have brought the team good luck:

Okay, back to blogging...I thought it might be fun to spend a few days writing down some of the silly conversations we have with Sophie and share them here.  I feel like I'm constantly writing how she's growing so fast and surprising us with some of the things she says, so I thought maybe you'd like a few examples that really show her personality.  Kids really do say the darndest things!  And there's nothing like a 2 year old putting you in your place!

Me to Jack: “Hi my little monkey!”
Me to Sophie: “Is he your little monkey too?”
Sophie, very matter-of-factly: “No mom, he’s my brother.”

Sophie as I strap into her car-seat: “Wanna see my crazy moves mom?”
Me: “I don’t think you can really move now that you’re strapped in.”
She proceeds to wriggle and writhe, definitely in a “crazy” manner.  I couldn’t help but laugh.

As I’m driving and singing along (okay belting out) to Carrie Underwood, Sophie says:
 “Mom! Don’t sing.”

We are working with Sophie on dressing herself.  Sometimes this can be a very frustrating situation.  I was obviously exasperated with her the other night and she stopped (with her pants askew and her shirt half on) and said: “It’s ok mom, I’ll give you a hug and a kiss.”

I was comforting Jack from crying.  Sophie looked over and said: “Mom, is there a situation over there?”

Sophie, looking at my V-Neck sweater: “Mom, I see a whale butt.”

We’re trying to get her to stop sucking her fingers.  One night, as I’m helping her put on her PJs I gently said “Please get your finger out of your mouth.” And she replied, “It’s okay mom, I’m just putting it in my nose.”

Jack just woke up from his nap and Sophie ran over to him, gave him a great big hug and said “There’s my little monkey! I missed you so much!”

As Kris was jumping up and down with glee over the 49er’s win, he picked up Sophie as he’s cheering like crazy, says “They won!!” And Sophie says “I want a hot dog.”

Kids! They definitely keep things interesting!  Here are just a few random pictures from our week:

Jack checking out his sports center:

We had our friend baby Nathan over for some play time...he's about 3.5 weeks older than Jack -- I was stunned the 3 of them sat still enough for a picture!

Have a great week!
