Hello again and welcome to the end of August. I don't know about you, but I am amazed how quickly the summer has come and gone!
We've been trying to stay cool in our neck of the woods. It averaged 110 just about every day last week. Sophie and I spent a lot of the time in air-conditioned spaces because playing outside was just about out of the question! She looked forward to cooling off in her lukewarm bath at night. Now that she's walking, she gets a kick out of walking on her own back to her room after bath time. She loves to wear her towel like a cape and Kris and I can't help but laugh over the sight of it.
"Come on mama, it's time to put my PJ's on!"
Over the weekend, we escaped to Pismo Beach for cooler weather and to surprise my dad for his 57th birthday. Despite the picture below, Sophie was very happy to see her Grandpa (this just happened to be one of those moments when she only wanted mama).
And she had so much fun playing with Grandma too!
Grandma is still recovering from her back surgery but doing much better. We were happy to see her moving around a bit more but made sure to help out and keep things as easy as possible on her. As usual, Sophie was a good source of entertainment! She showed off her walking skills:
