Heat Wave

HEAT WAVE -- It is H-O-T!! I hope everyone reading this is staying cool in the summer heat. We are supposed to be in triple digits all weekend long. I am so thankful we have air conditioning but we're trying to be thrifty with our usage of it so we're sweating it out as best we can until it becomes unbearable. Sophie has been a good sport but I can tell when she's had too much so that's when the A/C comes on and stays on! Next year will be a little better when we can feel comfortable with taking her to the pool for a while during all this heat. She's too little now, so we're just trying to stay cool in-doors as best we can.

We are on our own again for a little bit. Yesterday we said goodbye to Grandma Suzie. It was a nice visit and I know Grandma is looking forward to seeing her again -- hopefully at the end of summer.

Sophie will be 8 weeks old on Monday! I can't believe it! We can already see how much she's grown. One of the nicest things for momma and daddy is that she has definitely figured out night vs. day. For the past 2 weeks she's been on a consistent schedule and is only waking up around 2am every night and then again around 5am. This has been such a blessing and I am enjoying it for as long as it will last!!

Another new thing for her is that we can tell she can see better and definitely recognizes Kris and me. The funniest thing though is that she is starting to clearly see her bedroom and she absolutely loves it! She especially loves the hanging butterfly mobiles that Grandma Robin bought for her. We have them hanging in 2 corners of her room. One of them is just above our glider and whenever we feed and burp her it's a bit of an effort to keep her focused on the task at hand when all she wants to do is admire her butterflies. Here's a video clip I took of her last night. Kris does one feeding a day, which is her nighttime feeding before bed. You can see how she'd much rather look up at her butterflies than burp for daddy.

She is also smiling in response to us now and I can tell she is very close to giggling. I am working on getting a good picture of her smile so stay tuned for that. I hope you all stay cool this weekend. Check back early next week!

  1. Hope you guys stayed cool this weekend! Have we mentioned that we are totally envious of your AC? Although, since it is way hotter in Valencia, you guys need it more then we do, for sure! Stay cool and have fun!
