Still Hot

STILL HOT -- It's definitely summer! We are still sweating it out down here. Sophie has been a trooper and we're doing everything we can to make sure she stays cool. Over the weekend we gave her some "naked" time which she really seemed to enjoy. She also lately seems to be getting a kick out of trying to stand up (with us holding her of course). Her legs are getting stronger every day and she constantly tries to push against us when we hold her to see if she can try to stand. Who knows, maybe she'll be one of those babies that skips crawling and goes straight to walking?! You never know...

Over the weekend we had a nice visit from my Grandma Pat and her husband Winn. They drove all the way up from the San Diego area to meet Sophie. It was great to see them and I know Sophie was happy to meet her Great Grandma --she even got in a good nap while sitting on Grandma's lap. We want to thank them again for making the trip up to see us!

Unfortunately we received some bad news late last week. My sister and her family were supposed to vacation down here this week, which would've been their first time meeting Sophie as well. Sadly, her son Ethan got really sick so they had to cancel their trip. We hope Ethan feels better very soon, because that's what's most important, but hopefully we'll be able to arrange something so that we can see them again soon! I know Sophie is very excited to meet her Aunt Jillian, Uncle Brian and her 3 cousins.

So, with the change of plans this week we're just laying low and trying to stay cool! Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary so Uncle Brandon has offered to watch Sophie while Kris and I have a date night. We're just going out for a nice dinner and will only be gone for an hour or two, but it will be nice to have a quiet dinner just the 2 of us. I can't believe it's already been 3 years since our wedding day --- that said, this heat we're having down here definitely reminds us of our special day :)

I'll end this post with a fun picture Kris took a few days ago...we keep saying we really want to get a picture of our hands and feet against Sophie's because the size difference just amazes us. We haven't yet posed for these pictures but here's one he grabbed while Sophie was having fun kicking my foot. She's still so tiny, yet growing so fast!
