Sophie's First 4th

SOPHIE'S FIRST 4TH - Happy 4th of July everyone! This has been quite the fun weekend! It all started Thursday night when our friends Dan and Nichole came over with their little boy Ethan to bring us a nice lasagna dinner. It was their first time meeting Sophie and we had a great time chatting over some yummy food while Ethan and baby Sophie met for the first time. Sophie was well behaved and enjoyed meeting new people. Unfortunately I forgot about my camera and didn't get to grab a picture, so hopefully I'll remember that for the next time we get together.

Friday brought us more visitors! We were very excited to welcome our friends Mike and Jenni and their baby Brandon for the day. They drove all the way down from the Bay Area for a nice visit and to meet Sophie. We calculated that Brandon and Sophie are exactly the same amount apart in age as Kris and I are (Brandon was born 2 days before my birthday and Sophie was born 2 days before Kris'). We figure that could be destiny for the arranged marriage we're planning in the future :) It was so much fun to introduce the babies to one another while we parents enjoyed catching up. We also couldn't help but laugh when they both decided to see who could out cry the other during dinner. Being the excellent parents that we are, we chose to videotape the hysterical scene -- so we can play it back for them on the night of their first date ;) I tried to post the video but guess it's too large or something because it was taking forever, so I gave up - sorry!
Anyway, it was such a nice time and we have to thank Mike and Jenni again for making the trip down -- it's always great to see them.

As for yesterday (the 4th) we started the day off with a farewell breakfast for our friends and then a few small errands, which included heading over to our local Bristol Farms and perusing the little festival they had set up for the big day. There were plenty of carnival booths set up in the parking lot, with live music, and Kris and I imagined it would be a fun place to check out again in the future when Sophie is old enough to understand what face painting and dunk tanks are. After doing some brief shopping we came back home to set up for our BBQ. We had more friends over to celebrate the holiday. This time Sophie got to meet our good friends Mitch and Jessyca. For all of the new people she met this weekend, Sophie did very well, though unfortunately she was a little extra fussy last night. Mitch and Jess are great and handled it in stride. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared mostly by Kris and then ventured down the street where we had an excellent view of the local fireworks set off at the town center. Sophie slept through the entire thing, so maybe next year she'll get her first glimpse of fireworks.
We've had a great weekend and have really enjoyed all of the catching up we've been able to do with friends we haven't seen in a while. Today we are taking it easy since daddy has to go back to work tomorrow and we're gearing up for another big weekend next weekend as we have more visitors heading our way! This time it will be Grandma Suzie, Grandpa Glenn, Tia Tiffany and Tio Dan. We're looking forward to it! We hope you all have a great week and check back again soon!
