2 Months Old!

2 MONTHS OLD -

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in posts but the days just seem to be flying by lately. As of Saturday, our little munchkin is officially 2 months old! To commemorate the occasion we took her to her 2 month check-up today. Luckily daddy was able to come home from work early to join us because momma wasn't so sure she'd handle Sophie getting her shots very well. As it turns out, I was okay but I did get choked up seeing her poor little thighs get pricked 3 times with those ugly needles. She handled it pretty well and seems to be doing okay for right now, though she's a bit fussy as I type this. Speaking of "little" thighs...the truth is, they aren't so little! Our baby girl now weighs 12 lbs, 3 ozs and is 22 inches long!! She is in the 80th percentile for weight and only 40th percentile for height, so basically we have a short, fat baby on our hands!!! Luckily the doctor isn't concerned about her weight and says it's nothing to worry about. In fact, it's a good sign she's such a healthy eater. And really, she comes by it honestly, since both her momma and her daddy love to eat :)

Now that she is 2 months old, we're noticing she's a lot more "talkative" and is cooing and trying to communicate with us. She's also discovering her hands....although in the picture below you can see that she'd rather hold my hand as I hold her pacifier for her, rather than just hold her pacifier herself!

Her face is getting even more expressive. I love the look she is giving her daddy in the picture below. He was teaching her the different sounds animals make and she got a kick out of it!

Over the weekend Kris and I went out to run some errands. As we were in line at the register in Macy's, a nice couple complimented us on our little baby. Much to my dismay though, they asked "what's his name?" I handled the situation fine in person and politely smiled and said "Sophie." He realized his mistake and apologized and said she was beautiful. In his defense, she was wearing a gender neutral color (yellow) and we have a gender neutral stroller. I'm thinking I might need to dress her in pink whenever we go out in public until she gets longer hair!! However, if it was up to daddy, he'd put her in baseball caps all of the time! I can understand mistaking her for a boy in the picture below (if it wasn't for her flower pacifier).

This week we're gearing up for our big trip to Michigan! We leave late Thursday and will be coming home on Monday. This will be an adventure to be sure! I'm making lists of everything to pack with us and have my fingers crossed that the plane trip will go smoothly. Wish us luck!

Okay, the fussiness has increased so it's time for me to send this off and comfort the little one. Hope you all have a great week and check back soon!

  1. Way to go Sophie (and her mommy and daddy!) We are glad that you are growing healthy, happy, and strong! Hopefully, you weren't too fussy because of your shots either. They aren't any fun.
