Our Little Traveler

OUR LITTLE TRAVELER -We made it home from our big adventure to Michigan! I'm happy to say that Sophie was an excellent traveler. She was a little nervous on the airplane at first. We left on a redeye Thursday night. I thought it was a brilliant idea because the baby would sleep the entire way. Too bad I didn't think about the fact that Kris and I would sleep very little!! Oh well, we toughed it out and are starting to become professionals operating on little sleep so it wasn't that big of a deal. Sophie did sleep through most of the flight after getting over her nerves. Luckily we were able to give her the pacifier for take off and landing and she didn't have any problems with her ears, which is a big concern for babies.

For those of you who don't know, we returned to my old home of Saline (Ann Arbor), Michigan for one of my closest friend's wedding. I know there are a lot of opinions out there about bringing babies to a wedding, let alone one halfway across the country, but I couldn't leave the baby behind and I really couldn't fathom the idea of missing the wedding! Plus, the bride put in a special request for the baby to attend, so I couldn't say no. Here's a picture of the happy couple, Matt and Carrie, with little Sophie. Luckily, Grandma Robin was kind enough to join us in Michigan and help with baby duty so we could also enjoy our friends' special day.

Sophie was very well behaved and even enjoyed time out on the dance floor with her momma and daddy. She loved looking around at everything there was to see -- we only had one quick moment of panic when she decided to have a messy diaper right when the best man's speech began. Luckily Daddy moved quickly through the crowd before causing too much of a scene!

It was so much fun for Kris and me to have another nice night out, since we don't get to dress up too much these days.Aside from our wedding adventures, my mom and I had a good time showing Kris around the area we used to live. We even drove up to the little German town called Frankenmuth where he had a sausage sampler for lunch, which he then washed down with a beer sampler. Sophie also loved to get out and see everything that was so new to her. Here's a picture from us in Frankenmuth:
We got great use out of our Baby Bjorn on our trip. We took that thing everywhere (definitely handy in the airports!). Here's Sophie and daddy walking around downtown Ann Arbor.

I was so happy we were able to make the trip to Michigan. I had so much fun seeing everything again -- it had been 7 years since I'd been back! But the best part of the trip was being able to introduce my two girlfriends (Carrie - the bride, and Preeti) to Sophie. I'm heartbroken that we won't be able to make the trip back in 3 weeks for Preeti's wedding (yes 2 weddings back to back!) but we had a great time visiting with Preeti and her fiance and I know they understand how tough the trip would be for us. Here's Preeti holding little Sophie.

I'm happy to say the trip was a success but will also say that traveling with an infant is a ton of work! We've decided we'll wait another long while before getting back on an airplane :) That's all for now. Hope you have a great week!
