Teething?

TEETHING? -- Well, even though we seem like it's pretty early for most babies, it seems as though our little one has started teething. She's drooling up a storm and has been extra fussy for the past two weeks. Everything we've read and all the other moms I've spoken to seem to confirm our suspicions -- she's an early teether. We even see a couple of white "nubs" on her upper gum line that we suspect could be the beginnings of the first teeth that will appear. That being said, I realize it could still be a couple of months before they actually break through, so wish us luck getting through this fussy period!! We've broken out the teething toys, and of course had to buy the teething ring that looks like a butterfly, since we know that's one of her favorite things. Here she is trying it out for the first time on daddy's lap (sorry it's a little blurry):

It's been almost a week since our last post, so I'll catch you up on what we did last weekend... It was our first time hosting a full dinner since Sophie arrived...by "full" dinner I mean we cooked (by "we" I mean Kris BBQed and I whipped together some easy side dishes). Anyway, we had Kris' coworker buddy over with his wife and two kids and we had a great time. They have a 4 year old and 1 year old (both boys) and it was really fun getting to know them better and introducing Sophie to some new kids.

On Sunday Sophie went to her first kid birthday party! It was a pool party for our friends' little 2 year old. Even though we still think Sophie is too small for the pool, we decided to show up and see what it was all about. We basically camped in the shade while Kris and I stared in awe at what our future holds -- tons of little toddlers running around with pizza, cake and water splashing everywhere. It was an eye opening experience!! Here's a picture of Sophie in her summer dress while napping on daddy's lap before we headed to the party. One last thing I'd like to share...over the past few days Sophie has really discovered her voice. She and I have had long "conversations" that have literally lasted at least 15 minutes at a time. She loves to "ooooh" and "agoooo" at me while I talk to her. After chatting for 10 minutes tonight Kris and I realized this would be a great video opportunity. Too bad the little one got camera shy! But our attempt is still pretty funny and you can see how expressive she is, even though we didn't really capture much chatter. We'll work on it.

This weekend we get to see Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon! Sophie will be experiencing her first Dodger baseball game, so check back early next week for pictures.
