Big-Eyed Beauty

BIG-EYED BEAUTY -- We hope you've all enjoyed your weekend. Ours is winding down with daddy enjoying his last few hours of vacation watching the Lakers and hoping they lose (sorry for all you Laker fans reading this!).

We've had a nice weekend enjoying our time together. It's been fairly low-keyed for the most part, since we're discovering it's quite an effort to really go out and do much with a newborn. Besides, we don't want to expose her to too many germs before she gets her shots. We're limiting it to about one outing/errand a day for now. Yesterday our big outing was a trip to the Post Office! Wow, has our life quickly changed! I know it will get easier when we're a bit more comfortable and she has her shots, but for now, we're playing it safe.

Over the last few days we're really starting to notice how Sophie has already changed. She's always been alert but now we think she can see even more things with clearer focus because her eyes are open even wider, as you can see in this picture.

It is the cutest thing! Also, we've been trying very hard to capture her toothless grin (which she's been doing more and more lately). Uncle Brandon caught a great one on his cell phone and then discovered he forgot to hit "save" so it's already history. Here was an attempt with our camera -- it's not quite the full smile, but it's close.

Her expressions are just priceless. I wish I could capture everything on camera! We've also noticed that her newborn clothes are actually fitting her (rather than being a bit baggy) and a few of her onesies are becoming snug, so we'll be moving up to a new selection of clothes within the next week or 2 I'm guessing. I'm already amazed by how quickly she's changing, and she's only going to be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
Wish us luck as we officially venture into "mommy and me" time tomorrow with daddy going back to work. I'm sure it'll be fine, but we will miss him terribly. Luckily Uncle Brandon is around for us to hang out with or if we find we need an extra hand. I'm sure we'll get into a routine in no time though.
