Play Time

PLAY TIME - Happy Wednesday to everyone! Sophie and I are getting in to the swing of things during this first week on our own. We had a bit of a rough start on Monday because Sunday night she must've known some sort of change was happening since Momma was the only one with her throughout the night while Daddy was sleeping. Actually, I think it was more that she was going through a little growth spurt because she wanted to eat practically every hour on the hour! Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep. Monday was more of the same fussiness -- I thought she'd be exhausted after the long night, but it turns out I was the only one wanting to nap and she was awake for most of Monday too. That said, Monday night was heaven because we were back to our feeding every 3 hours so I got some good 2 hour chunks of sleep. She has since been the perfect angel -- and actually slept quite a lot yesterday, which allowed me to clean house for visitors this week, as well as take care of some other household chores.

We're starting to learn each other's signals a bit better, and it just amazes me how intently she listens to everything we say to her. I think we have one smart cookie on our hands! We've been spending the mornings going on small walks around the neighborhood and then she sits in her little bouncer while I manage to quickly shower and get ready for the day. I've discovered a great music channel on our cable called "toddler tunes" and she just loves to sit and listen to the different songs as I get ready -- it makes things a lot easier on me (even though I find myself humming "Old McDonald" throughout the day). She loves music. Her favorite "play time" activity is her musical play mat. I've taken a short little video of her on it -- you can see how excited she gets!

Today we are expecting Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon for a few days. They are visiting for Uncle Brandon's birthday (which is tomorrow). I think they will be amazed by how much Sophie has grown in just the 2+ weeks it's been since they've seen her. I'm sure I'll have more pictures to share from their time here.

  1. You may have a cyclist on your hands! Watching her "air walk" on the video gave me a good laugh. :) Glad the girls of the house and getting some solo time to bond...
