Our Little Piglet

OUR LITTLE PIGLET - Hi everyone! I know that there is something strange about the layout on this page because the title is always covered by "the cutest blog on block" logo. Once I have my wits about me I'll try to figure out how to fix it, but in the meantime, I'll just include the title in all caps before starting in on my updates.
We have had a busy week! I can't believe how quickly time is flying. We only have one more week of daddy home with us before he goes back to work. That will be another adjustment, but I'm sure it'll be fine after a while.
This week we had our first non-family visitors. Our friends Kim & Beau came by to meet little Sophie, with their son Brandon. And on Wednesday we were visited by more friends, Jenna, Amanda and Alex. Sophie behaved very well both times and we're happy to see she's comfortable around others.
We also ventured out into the real world! Mom and Sophie were getting cabin fever, so on Monday we had our first day of errands at the supermarket and dropping off some paperwork with the doctor.
Yesterday was another big day. We decided to check out the support group for new nursing mothers. I felt like things had been going okay, but I wanted to be sure and see if there were any other tips I could get from other moms. I'm very glad we went because we were also able to weigh Sophie and we discovered that she's been eating very well this past week and already weighs 7 lbs! This means she has gained back her birth weight and then some. I was also told that I'm producing the right amount of milk for her, so that gave me a bit more confidence and we were praised with how our feeding is going. What a relief! She is definitely showing interest in all of her meals and has started making little grunting noises when she eats (the reason for the title of this blog) and also cooing sounds when she is satisfied and falling asleep in the middle of her feeding. It's definitely cute but makes for a long feeding session!
What else can I update you with? The weather here has been very strange (cool and rainy?!) but this morning we were lucky enough to squeeze in our first family walk through the neighborhood before the rain set in. I was finally feeling up to some exercise, and it felt great to get out and put my legs to work!
We hope you're all well and have a fabulous weekend! Check back soon!

  1. I am so glad that you got out of the house! It makes a huge difference and breaks up the day. She is beautiful and I am glad to hear that she is growing strong and healthy. Good work, mommy!

  2. She's getting big...still very cute! Good call on the support group, Michaela loved hers...she made some friends, learned alot, and was able to alleviate some concerns.

Glad to hear that you're getting out of the house...the fresh air does everyone some good!

    Keep up the great work!

  3. Sooo cute! Those little sounds she makes sound adorable. :) By the way, Tyler's feedings initially were about 45 minutes each time, every other hour. So I understand your pain! Don't worry, she will become more efficient eventually. :)

  4. Like Dust said, I really enjoyed going to the Mommy & Me groups. THey were lead by a lactation consultant and it was really nice to have someone there to answer questions, alleviate concerns and to get advice from other Moms. Plus it always helped with the "cabin fever" feeling since the class was once a week. I think it's one of the things i miss most about having returned back to work! Glad you're getting to attend and enjoy them. Sophie is a doll. Hopefully we can meet her soon!
