Roly Poly

ROLY POLY - Happy weekend! I hope all you fathers out there are enjoying time with your families.
Kris started off his Father's Day weekend a bit early by egging on the in-laws (my parents) with the Oakland A's v. Dodgers baseball rivalry -- he had his lucky charm with baby Sophie's special outfit. Of course we couldn't resist the photo op! And, much to my parent's disappointment, the A's ended up beating the Dodgers that night.

We had a nice visit with Grandma Robin and Grandpa Gordon - and celebrated Uncle Brandon's birthday with Sophie's first dinner outing. We played it smart and timed dinner for right after her feeding, so she slept through the entire meal, which allowed Kris and I some time to relax and enjoy a meal out for a change (it's been a while!).
Sophie is a world class sleeper (when she wants to sleep). That's one thing I can honestly say she gets from me. I managed to vacuum her room while she was napping in her crib and she didn't even budge. Brandon and I had a fun time the other day laughing at her as she napped in my lap because not only was she completely limp and knocked out, but she was having some crazy dreams and kept making funny faces in her sleep. Here's what she looked like - completely passed out on me:
Kris and I have noticed that she's getting better and better about trying to lift her head -- she's so strong for not even being one month old yet! We've been giving her "tummy time" daily. This morning was a big one for us, because she rolled over! (Though she's managed to roll over a few times already by accident, today she finally grasped the concept and rolled over about 6 times in a row!) She was having a great time and would cry once she was on her back because she wanted to be back on her tummy and do it again. I was lucky enough to grab the camera and catch it on video. Who knew babies could do this at 3.5 weeks of age?!

  1. Rolling at 3.5 weeks? Wow! That's pretty impressive! I don't think Landon rolled until he was almost 5 months old. THen again, his budha belly always got in the way. Happy Father's Day to Kris!

    Love, M
